These checklists align with the Victorian curriculum, they also include each expected standard, which has then been broken down into ‘I Can’ statements- WRITTEN AS YOU WOULD TEACH IT! I doesn’t get much better than that! This is downloaded as an Excel file so that you can add in students, use again and again, and personalise to your school. Time for some more sight word practise. This time we focus on AND, THE, WAS with sentences containing yellow and red sight words to help consolidate. Read, trace and write each word and the second page for each sight word has a small activity to assist with comprehension skills. First week back to school and getting to know you, doesn’t need to be boring…Who went roller skating? Who went camping? We can do MUCH better than that! Imagine a class full of students discussing what they WOULD have done! This task explains how to get your students moving around and getting to know each other, as well as providing for some rich imaginative discussions afterwards as a group. A much better alternative to the usual people hunt.
OZClassroom Hacks was asked if it was possible to create worksheets to help young students learn and consolidate their sight words, WITH the font being Victorian Cursive script to ensure that students were also consolidating correct letter formation according to the Victorian Curriculum. OZClassroom Hacks is about anything that makes life easy in the classroom. Have you ever noticed that some staff seem to look a lot less stressed than others? That’s usually because they have the benefit of a few years under their belt and access to good range of resources. They are the one’s who know not to try and reinvent the wheel, but to use what’s already there.
This activity works great with viewing the movie Inside Out, and lends its hand to opeing some amazing dialogue about feelings and who we really are.
